The NEED SATISFACTION PROCESS OF SELLING puts the Salesman in complete control of the selling process but makes the prospect or customer the star of the show with a sense of being in command, controlling the direction of the sale, which in fact he always does … like it or not.

 

So NEED SATISFACTION teaches you and anyone else interested in persuading anyone else to accept their ideas, products and services, HOW to perform the selling process rather than, WHAT to do with all of their wonderful suggestions for example: use tremendous openings, interest-getters, desire arousers, presentations, demonstrations, etc. etc. etc.

 

Most Sales Trainer’s have always taught and teach today a "salesman dominated" method of selling. This is where the salesman is aggressive, talkative, and center-stage.

  • A strong attention getter with excitement and creativity after building the relationship.

  • Benefits (stressing these rather than facts or features)

  • Effective handling of objections; ignoring, flushing them out, answering them, etc.

  • Watching for and responding to buying and warning signals (body language, words, questions, etc., etc.)

  • Effective trial closes (easy, guiding words, encouraging "yes’s").

  • A strong close. Taking command with confidence.

  • Masterfully employing pauses and moments of silence etc. etc. (then the approval!)

  • Short effective summaries and/or assurances and always-proper follow-up to assure complete satisfaction, etc., etc., etc.

LISTEN CAREFULLY, … All such points are GOOD … AND … HELPFUL … telling you WHAT to do … and they work … SOMETIMES. However, did you notice the not-so-obvious "push" selling and "dart throwing"?

 

It is there! … all the time.

First, let me say just how well this wrong way, that we’ve been discussing works.

Up until at least the 1950’s all, or most all, of the great salesmen used this approach, became successful and made a lot of money … But that old way leaves too much to chance! It’s too risky. Especially today! That process "Tell a child WHAT to think," method was built for yesterday.
